Canada’s esteemed Cree writer, poet and Order of Canada recipient, Michelle Good, Canadian Keynote Speaker at the 2027 San Miguel Writers’ Conference and Literary Festival.
Aysanabee made history at the Canadian Juno Awards in 2024 as the first Indigenous artist to win Alternative Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year and two Junos in 2026 for Alternative Album of the Year and Contemporary Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year.
He is Oji-Cree, Sucker Clan of the Sandy Lake First Nation, a remote fly-in community in Northwestern Ontario and is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and singer-songwriter based in Toronto, Canada.
His songwriting explores identity, family history, and Indigenous resilience, establishing him as one of the most compelling emerging voices in Canadian music.
Aysanabee’s sound is both hypnotic and melodic, blending indie rock, soul, and electronic textures with storytelling rooted in family history and Indigenous identity.
Leiden, a Cuban-Mexican singer-songwriter, activist and producer, is considered one of the most important artists of the new Latin American song. She fuses Latin roots with avant-garde rhythms and genres, with an innovative, rhythmic and high-quality production.
She has released five studio albums and a live DVD. She has collaborated with Celso Piña, Aterciopelados, Torreblanca among many others. She has performed in the Czech Republic, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Cuba, Costa Rica, Brazil, Panama and has participated in festivals and forums in Mexico, including Vive Latino, Cervantino, Coordenada, Auditorio Nacional and Lunario del Auditorio Nacional.
Her song “Hasta Salvarnos” has been performed by more than 40 women around the world. She has composed music for films, short films, documentaries and stage shows.
She leads the project “Volver al corazón” (Back to the Heart), where she gives voice to women in prison by composing testimonial songs with a humanistic perspective through collective creation sessions. She is the founder and director of “Jueves”, the first music label for women in Mexico. Her music is a celebration that covers various Latin American genres such as cumbia, rumba, son jarocho, ballad, danzón, fused with avant-garde genres.
Michelle Good is a Cree writer and a member of the Red Pheasant Cree Nation in Saskatchewan. After working for Indigenous organizations for twenty-five years, she obtained a law degree as a 43-year-old single mom and advocated for residential school survivors for over fourteen years.
In 2014 Good earned a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia while still practising law and managing her own law firm. Her poems, short stories, and essays have been published in magazines and anthologies across Canada, and her poetry was included on two lists of the best Canadian poetry in 2016 and 2017.
Five Little Indians, her first novel, won the HarperCollins/UBC Best New Fiction Prize, the Amazon First Novel Award, the Governor General’s Literary Award the Rakuten Kobo Emerging Writer Award, the Evergreen Award, the City of Vancouver Book of the Year Award, and Canada Reads 2022.
On October 7, 2022 Simon Fraser University granted her an Honorary Doctor of Letters. On June 12, 2024, the University of the Fraser Valley also granted her an Honorary Doctor of Letters. Truth Telling: Seven Conversations about Indigenous life in Canada was released May 30, 2023 and was shortlisted for the Writers Trust Balsillie Prize for Public Policy.
In May 2024 Truth Telling was shortlisted for the Saskatchewan Book Awards, the Indigenous Voices Award and won the High Plains Book Award. She was named the University of Calgary Distinguished Writer for 2024/2025. She is the winner of the 2025 Indspire Award in the Arts category and was admitted as a Member of the Order of Canada on October 17, 2025, formally announced December 31, 2025.
